Right to Equality

Right to equality includes equality before law, prohibition of discrimination on grounds of race, religion, gender, and caste or birth place. It also includes equality of opportunity in matters of employment, The Constitution of india assures equal right of speech, work, live and equal opportunity in employment to each and every person of India. Article 14 to 18 of India Constitution provide Right to equality on various grounds. lets have an look on those articles :

 

ARTICLE 14

The State shall not deny to any person equality before the law or the equal protection of the laws within the territory of India.”

Discrimination occurs when you are treated less favourably than another person in a similar situation and this treatment cannot be objectively and reasonably justified.

ARTICLE 15

secures the citizens from every sort of discrimination by the State, on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth or any of them.

People were beaten up for touching idols of gods has become a typical affair of newspapers headlines whenever I’m going through one. It gave the impression to me type of a nightmare which has compelled me to look into the provisions effective that prohibit such differentiation

guarantees equal opportunity to all citizens in matters related to employment in the public sector
