Department of Legal Studies & Research, Barkatullah University, Bhopal was established in 1982 with the objective to provided qualitative legal education. The department offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) LL.M. and Ph.D. degree in Law along with Vocational Post Graduate Diplomas. Department has excellent facilities of Research in Law and presently more than a dozen scholars are enrolled in Ph.D. Degree.
Department is having well equipped furnished spacious building with large number of classrooms, lecture halls and a well-equipped library. The department is imparting Legal Education using modern techniques. Weekly presentations and transparent monthly tests are mandatory and added feature of these courses. It will cultivate and infiltrate legal aptitude of the students aiming to make them excellent advocates and resources who would act as champions for law and justice. The department is conducting legal literacy camps, moot court competitions and other activities helpful to inculcate legal aptitude in the students.
The faculty members of department work more as guide and counsellors creating an environment of personal relationship and contribute to the growth and personality of the students. The medium of instruction of the course in English. The department has fully equipped library other than Central Library of the University. The library of the department has sufficient books, journals, periodicals and other literature. In the department well equipped computer lab is present.
The students of the department exhibited praiseworthy performance in various all India moot court competitions. The department undertakes the placement of students through campus interviews. The department encourages its students to organize and participate in co-curricular activities moot court and moot performance on burning socio-legal problems, human rights etc.
